Joey’s POV: Innovation Camp Austin 2008 (part 1)

This post was written by ludwigvan968

Innovation camp was Awesome!!!  The geek level was much higher then any other previous tech mixer/barcamp event I have been to.  The only thing I saw lacking (which may have been there, I just did not see it), were groups presenting on the innovative ideas that were not commercially based, but social or community based.  I would have loved to see more groups talk about this.  There were good talks about keeping Austin competitive in the knowledge based business sector and how to develop that space.  Many start-up spaces and companies showed up to talk about their models and methods which was interesting as well.

What I really came away with was a sense of people in Austin ready to be creative, ready to make and ready to geek out, which is totally exciting!!!

  1. Was good meeting you at Jelly last week Joey. I’m a bit frustrated that I’m still not hearing about all of these events till after they’ve happened. =) Any recommendations on sites to check out to stay on top of the tech scene in Austin?

    Thanks.

  2. It was great meeting you at InnovationCamp yesterday.

There was a whole session dedicated to social entrepreneurship (I was in there), but it was at the same time as Michelle Greer’s talk which you were probably in.
